मैं उसकी अँधेरी दुनिया की रौशनी थी,
और वह मेरी दुनिया का उजाला था।
जब तक उसने तय कर लिया,
की उसे अँधेरा बेहतर लगने लगा,
और उसने मेरी लौ को बुझा दिया।
Preference
I was the light in his dark world,
and he was the light in mine.
Until one day he decided he liked the darkness better
and blew out my flame.
Uvina Persaud was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario to immigrant parents from Guyana. Uvina has always loved reading as a child; as she grew older that love of reading encouraged her to start writing her own short stories and poems. She now has a Poetry Instagram page @poetrybyuvinapersaud with more than 500 followers.
